WHAT IS AN LCP?
An LCP is a community based, not for profit, locally operated organisation contracted by the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) to assist young people aged 13-19 years into further education, employment and training opportunities.
There are currently some 125 LCPs facilitating services to all Government, Catholic and Private schools across Australia.
WHAT DOES AN LCP DO?

LCPs provide an important link for youth between school and the workplace.

They are a vital resource in helping young people gain the skills, experience and professional guidance to achieve a successful transition into further education, training and employment.
They facilitate Career and Transition programs by partnering with industry and employer groups, schools, professional career advisors, community organisations, parents and young people, youth service providers and other government and community organisations.

In our LCP there are 14 schools: Austin Hospital School, Banksia Latrobe SC, Bundoora SC, Concord Special School, Greensborough SC, Ivanhoe Girls Grammar School, Ivanhoe Grammar School, Loyola College, Macleod College, Montmorency SC, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic College, Parade College, St Helena SC and Viewbank College.

The Banyule Region includes: Bellfield, Briar Hill, Bundoora, Eaglemont, Eltham North, Greensborough, Heidelberg, Heidelberg Heights, Heidelberg West, Ivanhoe, Ivanhoe East, Lower Plenty, Macleod, Montmorency, Rosanna, St Helena, Viewbank, Watsonia, Watsonia North and Yallambie
WHAT PROGRAMS ARE THERE?
‘Career and Transition’ – this program assists young people to plan their future career and make a smooth transition into a career from school. Typical activities under this program include: developing individual transition plans; mentoring; professional career advice; access to information about vocational education and training opportunities.
‘Adopt A School’ – is where a business adopts a school in order to engage young people in hands-on experiences in their specific industry sector. Activities can include visits and excursions to industry; part-time work opportunities; work experience; student mentoring; forums and seminars.
‘Structured Workplace Learning’ – provides structured learning opportunities to students in a real or simulated workplace. It involves training and mentoring in the workplace to develop their technical and generic employability skills.
