If you are looking for the absolute Guide to School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships then we recommend that you read through the “School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships SBAT Guide 2012 – 2013”.
The SBAT Guide will help students, parents and school staff answer most questions about SBATs including:
- What are SBATs?
- Who can do an SBAT?
- Who is involved in an SBAT and what are their roles?
- What are the benefits of an SBAT?
- What industries offer SBATs?
- Who can help a student obtain an SBAT?
The Guide also uses Case Studies to demonstrates the different ways that a student can undertake an SBAT and how they are supported in that process.
The SBAT Guide is based on an initiative started by the Inner Northern LLEN and this edition of the Guide has been developed through the collective efforts of the members of the Northern SBAT Task Force’s Resources Working Group, with the financial support of a range of sponsors and with a significant contribution of the Hume Whittlesea LLEN staff time.

The purpose of this booklet is to improve the access and appropriateness of referrals to VCAL programs delivered across (and at the boundaries of) the Northern Metropolitan Region by the ACE Sector, TAFE Institutions, Community Agencies and Community Schools. The contents of this booklet should provide workers who refer young people to these VCAL programs with an insight into the focus, structure, target group and key contacts for each program.
The School Leavers Guide is an annual publication provided to all Banyule and Nillumbik upper level secondary school students when they are about to leave school. The booklet is designed to highlight and help connect these students to services which may support or address barriers to their successful transition.
