* Expands your network of potential employers for the future.

What’s the difference between Work Experience and SWL?

* Work Experience is the short term placement of students with employers, to provide insights into the workplace and industry.

* SWL is on-the-job training during which a student is expected to demonstrate a set of skills or competencies related to their VCE, VET or VCAL course.

* SWL is usually a minimum of 10 days, either in a block or weekly placement.

What is an SBAT?

* School Based Apprenticeships & Traineeships.

* SBATs enable young people to gain a vocational qualification while completing their secondary school studies (VCE/VCAL).

*  SBATs combine school, paid part-time work and structured training (with a Tafe or training provider).

*  Students spend a minimum of 7 hours per week in employment (one day school release), and another 6 hours per week in structured training.

* Requires a formal Apprenticeship Contract & Training Plan

The Training Contract must be signed by:

* Parent/Guardian (if you are U18), School, Employer, Tafe/Training Provider.

This is organised by an Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC).

*  Your employer will be entitled to incentive payments, organised through the AAC.
